AI Engineer

You will work directly on building in-house data products and digital solutions to help the Chartering department make decisions. The task that awaits you You will be developing tools that give chartering managers an edge in a highly competitive market while at the same time helping build NORDENs foundation for GenAI by establishing best practices and educating colleagues. You will participate across the entire AI development lifecycle, translating needs into designs, constructing solutions and delivering production-grade systems. Our tech stack consists of Python and its modern ecosystem (uv, FastAPI, Pydantic etc.), and we use Azure as our cloud platform for deployment, version control, CI/CD and more. Your skills and qualifications The ideal person applies a practical mindset to create commercially valuable solutions and speaks up to communicate their suggestions. To be more specific, you already hold: Software development experience with a focus on maintainability and software engineering best practices. Experience deploying AI systems to production, including monitoring, evaluation, and performance optimisation. Proficient in Python programming with familiarity with current Python tools and libraries. Practical experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector search, RAG, and evaluation. You have a keen interest and experience in working with unstructured data (primarily plain text and documents). Knowledge of modern software development tools such as version control, CI/CD and containerisation. Experience building APIs with frameworks such as FastAPI or similar. Knowledge of classical machine learning. If you have worked in a shipping or trading environment already, this would be a benefit. In case you have contributed to any open-source projects either professionally or privately, we would also be interested in hearing about it.
